Shoshana Neuman is a professor of Economics (Emeritus since 2015) in the Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University (Israel). She is also Dean of the School of Economics at the Ashkelon Academic College (since 2015). Her main areas of specialization are: Labor Economics, Immigration, Economics of Religion, and Health Economics. Most of her studies are empirical, exploring European and Israeli economic/social phenomena. She published over 60 scientific papers in international academic journals (such as: JPE, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Human Resources, JEBO, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Population Economics), and is a frequent reviewer for international journals and research foundations. She received many research grants and awards. Two large-scale projects were funded by the European Union. Shoshana has been (among many other professional activities) a consultant to the World Bank, Director of the Economic Research Institute (at Bar-Ilan), Director on Boards of Directors, Chairperson of the Department of Economics (at Bar-Ilan), and is currently a Research Fellow at the CEPR (London) and the IZA (Bonn). She served on numerous national and international professional and scientific committees and organized international conferences.
