Elena received her PhD in political economy from Princeton University in 2011. She is currently a research economist at the EBRD in London and an associated researcher at IOS Regensburg in Germany. She is interested in political economy, migration, entrepreneurship, emerging markets, and the politics and economics of transition. At the EBRD, she is head investigator for the Life in Transition Survey. She is also an associate editor at Economic Systems.
