Marek Hlaváč focuses on topics in labor economics, social policy, the political economy of redistribution, and on applied issues in comparative political economy. He currently works as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Social Policy Institute, the main analytical and research unit at the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic. In addition, he frequently teaches microeconomics in the summer program of the Mid-Career Master of Public Administration (MC-MPA) program at Harvard University. With Harry J. Holzer, a former Chief Economist at the United States Department of Labor, he is the author of analyses of historical and recent labor market developments in the United States. In addition, he is the author of 'stargazer,' a widely used package for the R statistical programming language that produces publication-quality regression tables. In the past, Marek has taught economics at UWC Adriatic in Duino (Trieste), Italy. He has also worked as a Research Assistant in the World Bank's Development Economics Research Department, and as a Research Analyst at NERA Economic Consulting, where he focused on antitrust cases and litigation in the health care industry. Marek holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University, a Master's degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics, summa cum laude, from Princeton University.
