An article published by the Slovak daily newspaper Pravda discusses the growing financial pressure faced by younger generations - from rising housing costs and insecure living conditions to difficulties in saving, starting a family, or accessing affordable housing.

The article refers to CELSI’s latest living wage estimates for Slovakia, developed in cooperation with the WageIndicator Foundation.

According to the latest calculation, a living wage in Slovakia reached €1,344 gross per month in the first quarter of 2026, significantly above the current minimum wage.

Living wage estimates help provide a clearer picture of what income is necessary to cover the basic costs of a decent life, including housing, food, healthcare, transport, education, and other essential expenses.
