GPG: Closing the gender pay gap in public services in the context of austerity

Final conference of the project

Jan. 19, 2021

On 14 January 2021, the final conference of a two-year project on gender wage disparities in public services in the context of austerity measures was held. The project brought some unexpected and interesting findings. For example, collective bargaining agreements are likely to have contributed to reducing gender income disparities in public administration and the education sector, but not in health care. Some trade unions´ strategies have focused on increasing the value and cost of work predominantly performed by women by introducing gender-neutral re-evalution job systems and thorough implementation of transparency policies. For more information, the conference presentations are attached.
