On April 16, the Central European Trade Union Network (CETUN) held an event on Social Dialogue for a Fair Green Transition, which took place at the headquarters of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) in Vienna.
CELSI Managing Director Marta Kahancová participated in the internal workshop focused on trade unions, public services, industry, automotive, and critical raw materials and their influence on the green transition.
The workshop was concluded by CELSI researcher Jakub Barszcz, who specializes in the green transition.
They emphasized that for the green transition to succeed, it must be designed to be not only ecologically sustainable but also socially sustainable and just, and that a functioning social dialogue is crucial to ensuring a fair green transition for our societies and economies.
The event was a joint effort by the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB), the Chamber of Labour (Arbeiterkammer, AK), the Central European Trade Union Network (CETUN), and the Association of Public and Social Economy Enterprises (VÖWG).
After the workshop, CETUN and other ETUC participants attended a panel debate titled “Democracy under threat… Social dialogue to the rescue?”, which took place at FAKTory.
Moderator Michael Soder from the Vienna Chamber of Labour led a discussion on the role of social dialogue in democracy with Čedanka Andrić (TUC Nezavisnost), Henrike Bauer (Hafen Wien GmbH), and Josef Středula from Czech unions ČMKOS.
