The Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) was participating in the annual European Sociological Association Conference.
CELSI’s research was presented at the 16th ESA Conference in Porto, Portugal, by its founder and managing director, Marta Kahancová, who represented also Comenius University, Slovakia.
Alongside leading scholars from around the world, they engaged in discussions on this year’s theme: “Tension, Trust, and Transformation.”
On Thursday, August 29, Marta participated in a session on Migrant Precarious Labour, chaired by Annalisa Murgia (University of Milan).
Marta presented research on platform workers, commonly associated with taxi and food delivery services, titled “Precariousness in the Context of Contractual Flexibility: Distinct Trade Union Strategies for Distinct Types of Precarious Workers,” conducted in collaboration with CELSI researcher Adam Šumichrast.
The research is based on our Horizon project TransEuroWorkS (https://celsi.sk//transeuroworks/), which focuses mainly on ecological transition, technological change and labour mobility, providing analysis and policy recommendations for the future world of European work and social protection.
