CELSI researchers Martin Kahanec and Pavol Bors attended the 20th Congress of the International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) that was held on 26-30 June 2024 in New York.

ILERA World Congress is one of the most relevant events for academics in industrial relations, reflecting the current trends and topical issues in this area.

CELSI researchers presented their work in more sessions aiming at living wage, social dialogue in care services and bargaining for decent wages.

CELSI co-founder Martin Kahanec presented a unique methodology of data collection and Living Wage calculations from the WageIndicator Foundation project based on joint work of CELSI researchers Martin Guzi and Nina Holičková, as well as WIF's Nii Ashia Amanquarnor.

After, Fiona Dragstra moderated an expert panel with Martin Kahanec, Daniela Ceccon and Chris Albin-Lackey on living wages as a way to ensure fair remuneration and decent living for workers.

Another key session featuring CELSI researchers explored social dialogue in care services. Pavol Bors delivered a presentation of a comparative article, based on research carried together with his CELSI colleagues Barbora Holubová and Marta Kahancová.

The research is dealing with case studies from Hungary and Slovakia, in which they emphasize innovative local solutions as a potential solution to national challenges.

In a concluding symposium, work of Janna Besamusca, Utrecht University, and Marta Kahancová, CELSI and Comenius University, on "Bargaining for Decent Wages in the Context of the Liberalization of Industrial Relations in Europe" was presented by Fiona Dragstra.
