Martin Kahanec, CELSI's reserach director, has been appointed by deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Government and Chair of the Czech Government's Council for Research, Development and Innovations Mr. Pavel Bělobrádek as the Chair of its Expert Panel for Social Sciences. The mission of the Expert Panel is to verify and evaluate the output of research organizations in the Czech Republic, with the main objective of identifying the most significant research results attaining the highest quality in the respective research area. "Its a great honor and responsibility for me to take over the Chair after Štěpán Jurajda, professor and former director of CERGE-EI of Charles University in Prague. Identifying quality research provides important signals and the right incentives for researchers, especially if the distribution of research funding is tied to it, as is the case in the Czech Republic, " commented Kahanec.
