The IZA Journal of European Labor Studies publishes high-quality international research on a wide range of issues of relevance for European labor markets. In its scope it is policy-oriented and focused on applied research work.

According to the international research database Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) is a top institution in economic research in Slovakia. In the RePEc ranking CELSI has surpassed a number of prestigious economic institutions in Slovakia, ranking No. 1 in September, October and November 2011.

Martin Kahanec delivered an invited speech “Unemployment Benefits and Immigration: Evidence from the EU” at the workshop “Immigration in OECD countries: fiscal impact and public opinion” organized by the OECD in cooperation with CEPII on October 14, 2011, in Paris.

A book EU Labor Markets after Post-Enlargement Migration (Springer, 2010) co-edited by Martin Kahanec (with Klaus F. Zimmermann) selected as "Noteworthy in Industrial Relations and Labor Economics" by Princeton University for 2010.

On October 13-14, 2011 Martin Kahanec delivered an invited speech “Ethnic Diversity in European Labor Markets” at the workshop “Economy and Society Development in China and the World” co-organized by the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Minzu University of China, and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in Beijing.

On October 10, 2011 a workshop on poverty organised by the Slovak Governance Institute took place in Bratislava. This workshop is a part of Európa 2020 series, funded by the European Commission Representation in Slovakia.

The theme of the two-day conference (27.-28.9.2011) is the Stabilisation of the Extension System of Collective Agreements in Germany. Invited experts from several European countries summarize the national practice of extension mechanisms, thereby contributing with a variety of experiences to the German debate between researchers, policy makers, and social partners.

On September 23, 2011, AIAS organized a conference in honour of Prof. Jelle Visser, scientific director of AIAS, on the occassion of his retirement. Marta Kahancová's speech focused on the role of trade unions in Central and Eastern European countries after the EU enlargement and the economic crisis.
