TASR/Teraz.sk: Slovakia Faces Growing Demand for Technical Specialists
Published on Nov. 20, 2024
Monika Martišková in TASR/Teraz.sk discussed changes of labour market in Slovakia.
In Slovakia, the number of medium-skilled workers, such as craftsmen, welders, machine operators, and assemblers, is gradually decreasing, while the demand for highly skilled technical and professional workers is rising.
This trend was highlighted by labour experts Slavka Eley (European Labour Authority - ELA), Michal Páleník (Institute for Employment Studies), and Monika Martišková (Central European Labour Studies Institute - CELSI).
“Slovakia is among the countries most at risk from digitalisation and automation. One reason is the high proportion of medium-skilled workers compared to economies like Germany, and this is due to Slovakia’s significant production base, which is also gradually declining,” said CELSI researcher Monika Martišková, as quoted by TASR.
