CELSI has published the latest living wage calculation for Slovakia

CELSI in collaboration with the WageIndicator Foundation has calculated that the living wage in Slovakia for the first quarter of 2026 stood at €1,344 gross.

The Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI), in collaboration with the Dutch WageIndicator Foundation, has calculated that the living wage in Slovakia for the first quarter of 2026 stood at €1,344 gross.

The current minimum wage of €915 thus still leaves many employees unable to cover even 70% of the basic costs of a decent life.

"Even in 2026, the minimum wage will not be enough for people to meet their basic needs for a dignified life," said CELSI founder and Scientific Director Martin Kahanec.

"This will have an impact on their social situation, but also on their motivation, investments, and ultimately on productivity, demand, and the ability to invest in their children's education - threatening the prosperity and sustainability of the economy," he explained.
