Gerhard Bosch
Full Professor of Sociology at the University Duisburg-Essen

Gerhard Bosch (University Duisburg-Essen) is Professor Emeritus at the Institute for Work, Skills and Training (Institut Arbeit und Qualifikation, IAQ) and full Professor of Sociology in the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He founded the IAQ and was its director from 2007 to 2016. Between 1990- 2006 he was Vice-President of the Institut Arbeit und Technik (IAT) in the Science Center of North-Rhine-Westphalia in Gelsenkirchen. Between 1980 and 1990 he was senior researcher in the Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliches Institut (WSI) of the German Trade union Federation (DGB) in Düsseldorf. Between 1973 and 1980 he worked in various research projects in the Sozialforschungsstelle Dortmund and the University of Bielefeld. He is an economics and sociology graduate from the University of Cologne. His fields of specialisation – on which he has widely published - are: Employment and Labour market policy, Labour Market Regulations, Wages, Working time, Training, Industrial Relations, Welfare State, New technologies and Employment. He was member of Member of 8 High Level Experts Groups in Germany and the EU on Information Technologies, Industry 4.0, Older Workers, Equal Rights, Labour Market Regulations and Financing Lifelong Learning Publications and Research Projects: https://www.uni-due.de/iaq/personal/bosch.php
