On 17 September 2026, CELSI Managing Director Marta Kahancová presented at the TransEuroWorkS Final Conference "Transforming Work, Transforming Welfare: Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Welfare State", held at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels.

The conference brought the four-year Horizon Europe project to a close, gathering researchers, policymakers, social partners, and civil society to discuss evidence-based responses to some of Europe's most pressing labour market and social policy challenges. The opening keynote was delivered by Jiří Švarc from the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

Marta presented in Session 2: "Beyond the Standard Worker: Non-Standard Work, Migration, and the Limits of Social Protection", alongside Anna Ilsøe (University of Copenhagen) and Olaf van Vliet (Leiden University).

She presented research findings on access of non-standard workers to social insurance and the role of social dialogue in securing that access, sparking a constructive debate with policymakers on the future of the welfare state and labour markets.

The findings will soon be published as a forthcoming working paper, co-authored by Adam Šumichrast, Silvia Girardi, Anna Ilsøe, Trine P. Larsen, and Katharina Sarter.

TransEuroWorkS is an innovative, multi-disciplinary and multi-level Horizon Europe research project providing analysis and policy recommendations for the future world of European work and social protection, uniting Leiden University, CEPS, University College Dublin, University of Copenhagen, CELSI, Universitat de Barcelona, and Zabala Innovation Europe.
