WHEN? 18.3., 15.00-16.30
WHERE? Online, Zoom
EuroPolicy civil association, EURACTIV Slovakia and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Bratislava cordially invite you to an online discussion titled “European Economy in Trump’s World”, which will be held on March 18, 2025 from 15:00 to 16:30 CET. Discussion will be held via Zoom and will be conducted in English only.
ABOUT THE DISCUSSION:
With the beginning of Donald Trump’s second term, the European Union faces renewed economic challenges and uncertainties. The U.S.’s increasingly protectionist trade policies, tariffs, and unpredictable approach to transatlantic relations are forcing Europe to develop new strategies to maintain economic stability and global competitiveness. At the same time, internal challenges such as Germany’s stagnation, rising energy costs, and political fragmentation are weakening Europe’s economic foundations.
This discussion will explore a key question:
- How should the EU adapt its economic policies to remain a global power in a shifting geopolitical landscape shaped by U.S. policies?
- Additionally, we will examine the expected impact of the new U.S. administration’s policies on the EU’s core priorities, including free trade, the Green Deal, energy diversification, competitiveness, and tech regulation.
PANELISTS:
- Michal Wiezik, Member of the European Parliament (Renew Europe / PS)
- Alžběta Rücklová, Head of Americas Unit at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic
- Knut Pankin, Representative of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), Washington Office
- Martin Kahanec, Founder and Scientific Director of the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI)
Discussion will be moderated by EURACTIV Slovakia Editor Lucia Lauková.
