On September 19, 2024, the LABOR.A'24 conference on the future of work took place in Berlin and digitally on labora.digital. The conference brought together various stakeholders to discuss transformation of labour and identify visions of the future.

CELSI's Managing Director Marta Kahancová presented a recent report on collective bargaining on AI and algorithmic management in the session "Have your say on AI at the Workplace - Collective Bargaining Practices on AI in the European Service Sector" led by moderators Oliver Philipp, Policy Officer in Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's Competence Centre Brussels, and Birte Dedden, Director ICTS in UNI Europa.

Together with ESRC Research Fellow at Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit) Steve Rolf (University of Sussex), and Giovanni Suriano (Deutsche Telekom), the panelists and the audience discussed the implementation of data-driven AI systems at the workplace in relation to data protection or working conditions.

They also examined the current situation in collective bargaining by discussing concrete examples of agreements regarding the use of AI-systems in workplaces.

The report co-authored by colleagues from CELSI and the WageIndicator Foundation can be downloaded here:
