Martin Kahanec awarded the City of Rožňava Prize 2026

On February 5, the ceremonial session of the Rožňava City Council took place, during which municipal awards were presented. Each year, the council recognizes the city’s most successful athletes, teams, distinguished individuals, and citizens contributing in various fields.

This year, the City of Rožňava Prize was awarded to CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec, for his long-standing and outstanding contributions to research, promoting the good name of the Slovak Republic, and his native city of Rožňava at home and abroad.

Other awardees included - Prof. Zuzana Havránková, economist at Charles University in Prague, for her exceptional contributions to scientific research, and Erika Fábiánová, headmistress of the Elementary School Pionierov in Rožňava, for her outstanding contributions to education.

The city also awarded honorary citizenship in memoriam to Marta Chaviva Reiková for her extraordinary engagement and selflessness in the resistance during World War II.
