On December 2, CELSI Scientific Director Prof. Martin Kahanec delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University Bratislava (FSEV UK).

The session introduced an innovative methodology for assessing income adequacy through the concept of a living wage – a wage that ensures a dignified standard of living based on real costs.

Developed by the WageIndicator Foundation to cover 175 countries and more than 3,000 regions, this methodology is already used by the UN Global Compact, EU reporting guidelines, social partners, and over 500 multinational companies.

Prof. Kahanec explained why the living wage provides a more accurate and policy relevant benchmark than traditional minimum wage indicators and how it can serve as a foundation for fair and sustainable wage setting.

The lecture was hosted in the main auditorium of FSEV UK and attended by students, researchers, and practitioners interested in labour market inequalities, social sustainability, and wage policy innovation.
