Published on Oct. 22, 2025
We are proud to share that CELSI researcher Tomáš Šarközi has been selected for the Virtual Young Scholars (VirtYS) program of the Global Labor Organization (GLO) — a highly competitive and internationally recognized research and mentoring initiative for early-career scholars.
As part of the 2025–26 VirtYS cohort, Tomáš will work on policy-relevant research under the guidance of leading international experts. He will also present his article, co-authored with CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec, entitled “Do Public Employment Programs Benefit Marginalized Communities? Evidence on Employment Effects for Marginalized Roma in Slovakia,” at the Global GLO–JOPE Conference 2025, held in Bonn on December 3–5, 2025.
The conference, jointly organized by GLO and the Journal of Population Economics (JOPE), brings together researchers from around the world to discuss pressing issues in labour markets, employment, and population studies.
The VirtYS program supports young scholars in developing high-quality, policy-relevant research and fosters international collaboration and dialogue between academia and policymaking.
Congratulations to Tomáš on this great achievement and recognition of his research excellence! 👏
