National seminar about just transition concerning actors in the automotive industry

The national seminar concerning actors in the automotive industry, which is part of the “Just transition in the automotive industry” project, will present the research results regarding the transformation of the Slovak and the European automotive industry from the perspectives of the relevant stakeholders. The seminar will also present possible policy measures needed for implementing just transition in the Slovak automotive industry successfully. Besides Slovakia, the project also covers Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia.

The project aims to enhance dialogue which would help the actors in the automotive industry to formulate policy proposals relating to just transition strategies with a purpose to contribute to meeting demands of carbon neutrality of future transport. The goal of the event is to facilitate a discussion about the transition in the automotive industry ina way that social justice is at the heart of the actions considered.

The seminar aims to answer the following questions:

  • What is the expected impact of the transition of the automotive industry into low emission forms of mobility on the employment rate in Slovakia?
  • How should just transition of the automotive industry look like in Slovakia?
  • How should individual actors of the automotive industry be involved in the transition?
  • What policies need to be implemented to make sure that just transition into the production of low emission cars will be carried out successfully?

The seminar will conclude with the formulation of 2-3 prototypes of policies for just transition in the automotive industry in Slovakia, which will stand as a basis for further discussion at the Brussels conference.

It will take place on October 18, 2021 from 14:00 to 17:30 at the premises of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia.
