CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec reflects on the deep societal risks facing the country in a expert survey of the innovative civic-tech organisation DEMDIS.
At a time of a worsening security situation, the innovative civic-tech organisation DEMDIS has released a new expert survey titled “What Really Threatens Slovakia”, in which CELSI Scientific Director Martin Kahanec reflects on the deep societal risks facing the country.
The survey also features perspectives from public figures across different fields, including Mikuláš Hanes (political analyst, NMS Market Research), Klára Tihláriková (humanitarian worker based in Kyiv), Tomáš Strémy (professor of criminal law, Comenius University), Mária Bieliková (AI expert and founder of KInIT), Zuzana Fialová (sociologist, Klimatická koalícia), and Matej Kandrík (security analyst, Adapt Institute), who together reflect on the most serious threats facing Slovakia today.
At a time when security is increasingly framed in military and geopolitical terms, the experts warn that Slovakia’s most serious threats may lie elsewhere.
According to Martin Kahanec, one of the gravest threats to Slovakia is a self-reinforcing spiral of pessimism and loss of hope.
