Martin Kahanec, appeared on Slovak National Television’s science talk show “Experiment”, where he discussed the economic concept of the Living Wage.
The recent ESET Science Award 2025 laureate in the main category Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia, Martin Kahanec, appeared on Slovak National Television’s science talk show “Experiment”, where he discussed the economic concept of the Living Wage, developed by the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) and the WageIndicator Foundation and applied today in 175 countries worldwide.
He explained how Living Wage research directly affects people’s real incomes and shared current Living Wage values for Slovakia and its regions.
Kahanec also talked about decent work, vulnerable groups on the labour market, and migration, emphasizing how bringing the minimum wage closer to the Living Wage could help reduce talent outflow and poverty.
He outlined how CELSI’s research continues to evolve, developing new data-driven concepts built on the Living Wage that could help address poverty worldwide.
