In a special episode of Jednoducho veda by .týždeň, all finalists of the ESET Science Award 2025 in the main category – Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia – were introduced and discussed their research.
Among them is Martin Kahanec, professor of economics at Central European University in Vienna, at the University of Economics in Bratislava, and CELSI’s co-founder and Scientific Director. His research focuses on labour markets, migration, and social inequalities.
Kahanec discussed together with the other finalists – Vladimíra Kurincová Čavojová (psychology), Zuzana Gdovinová (neurology), Karol Marhold (botany), and Adam Tomašových (paleobiology) – in a lively conversation moderated by Juraj Petrovič. They shared insights from their fields and reflected on the role of science in society.
The award laureates will be announced on 9 October 2025. Until 8 October, the public can still participate by voting for their favourite finalist in the Public Prize.
