The project aims to map the trade unions and professional associations in 6 EaP countries and provide recommendations on which activities of these organisations might be supported by EU to improve their impact.

The objective of the project is to conduct mapping studies of the current situation relating to trade unions and professional associations, as membership-based civil society actors in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine) with a key role in the transition to new economic labour relations and inclusive growth. The purpose of these studies is to assess the potential and need for the provision of EU support to this group of civil society and provide recommendations.

Activities of the project:

  • Identify trade unions, professional associations and relevant CSOs in the area of labour rights and social dialogue – develop organisations´ database;
  • Prepare six country-specific reports based on the desk research and interviews with stakeholders on the structure of the trade unions and professional associations, their financing, activities, political impact and needs to increase their capacity
  • To undertake five missions (except to Belarus) and conduct interviews with representatives of trade unions and professional associations in the country;
  • Draft comparative report on all 6 EaP countries and provide recommendations to the EU.
