SEAD: Enhancing socio-ecological dialogue in the automotive industry
Discussing the future of Slovakia’s automotive industry in Bratislava
March 10, 2026
On 26 February 2026, a national foresight workshop took place in Bratislava within the SEAD project – Enhancing Socio-Ecological Dialogue in the Automotive Industry.
The workshop brought together representatives of trade unions, employers and experts to reflect on how the ongoing transformation of the automotive sector may affect jobs, skills and industrial development in Slovakia.
CELSI researcher Adam Šumichrast opened the workshop with a presentation of preliminary research findings.
Drawing on desk research, online surveys and interviews, he mapped relevant EU and national policy frameworks and highlighted gaps in current approaches to managing digitalisation, automation and decarbonisation in the automotive sector.
The presentation was followed by a participatory foresight discussion with social partners on potential development paths for the Slovak automotive industry and the role of social dialogue in ensuring that the transition is both economically viable and socially fair.
The workshop was organised with the participation of Slovak social partners, including Odborový zväz KOVO and Zväz strojárskeho priemyslu SR, as part of a broader series of SEAD foresight meetings across Czechia, Hungary and Slovakia.
🤝 SEAD project partners include CELSI, České priority, WageIndicator Foundation, NELA, Odborový zväz KOVO, Zväz strojárskeho priemyslu SR, MGYOSZ / BusinessHungary, Vasas Szakszervezeti Szövetség, together with EU-level partners industriAll Europe and CEEMET.
