SEAD: Enhancing socio-ecological dialogue in the automotive industry
Technologies, work processes, skill requirements and jobs themselves: the green and digital transition is changing automotive industry
Sept. 24, 2026
How can social dialogue keep up? That question ran through the SEAD training sessions CELSI co-organised this week in Bratislava.
On Monday and Tuesday we worked with trade unionists from the metalworkers' union OZ KOVO. On Wednesday we worked with employer representatives from the Automotive Industry Association of the Slovak Republic (ZAP SR).
CELSI researcher Adam Šumichrast and Barbora Duffková from České priority led the training, called "The Future of Work and Skills in Industry". CELSI researchers Monika Martišková and Patrik Gažo joined the discussions and gave expert input.
With the union representatives, the talks looked at the role unions can play at workplace, sectoral and national level. Topics ranged from explaining automation and decarbonisation to members, to reskilling, training and the use of AI in collective bargaining.
Thank you to all participants for the open and inspiring discussions.
🤝 Besides CELSI, the SEAD project partners are České priority, WageIndicator Foundation, NELA, OZ KOVO, the Slovak Engineering Industry Association (ZSP SR), MGYOSZ / BusinessHungary, Vasas Szakszervezeti Szövetség, and the European partners industriAll Europe and CEEMET.
