Final Conference of the REJEnerAXion Project in Brussels
Oct. 29, 2024
REJEnerAXion Final Conference Brings Industry Experts Together to Discuss Key Findings on Just and Green Transition in the European Energy Sector.
On Tuesday, October 29 the REJEnerAXion consortium held its final conference at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels, exploring how industrial relations can facilitate a fair and environmentally sustainable transition in Europe’s energy sector.
From 2022-2024, the REJEnerAXion project has examined major changes, challenges, and potential opportunities in European energy employment related to technological advancements.
As the demand for specialist knowledge grows and jobs become more complex, these shifts especially impact less-qualified and blue-collar workers. However, they also create new job prospects in renewable energy.
The conference featured engaging discussions on these trends, including panel sessions with social partners and recommendations for both the European Commission and social partners. CELSI researchers Monika Martišková and Pavol Bors represented the institute.
Ilvo Sorrentino, National Secretary of the Italian Federation of Chemical, Textile, Energy, and Manufacturing Workers (Filctem Cgil), delivered the closing speech, highlighting the interconnected challenges facing several European industrial sectors.
“The comparative analysis results presented today reinforce the crucial role of social partners, social dialogue, and collective bargaining in achieving a fair and equitable transition. We will continue to work to support the project’s recommendations to the European Commission and social partners, aiming to transform these findings into European guidelines and directives,” said Ilvo Sorrentino.
