IncreMe(n)tal: Increasing Metalworkers’ representatives’ Awareness and Skills on Mental Health Protection & Promotion in the Workplace

CELSI researcher Lenka Hanulová shared first insight from her field research on mental health in manufacturing sector in Slovakia

Feb. 22, 2025

On February 20 and 21, the first IncreMe(n)tal Progress Meeting took place in the Spanish pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela, where IncreMe(n)tal project partners met to share and discuss preliminary research results.

The research partners of the project are currently analysing the results of the field research (survey and interviews) on mental health in the metalworking sector across six countries: Belgium, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey.

The metalworking industry plays a crucial role in Slovakia's economy, but we lack comprehensive knowledge about the mental health challenges faced by workers in this sector. Identifying these challenges is key to understanding strategies for the industry’s sustainability and the well-being of its workers.

The results of the research will be later used to prepare a series of trainings for workers' representatives on promoting mental health in the metalworking industry.

CELSI is represented in this project by researchers Barbora Holubová, Lenka Hanulová and Marta Kahancová. The project is funded by the European Commission and is being implemented in cooperation with the Slovak Metalworkers' Trade Union OZ KOVO.
