EcoMobility Transition: Strengthening a Just Transition in the Automotive Industry

The consequences of automotive industry transformation in the Moravian-Silesian Region and tackling transport poverty

June 17, 2026

On 15 June 2026, the EcoMobility Transition project organised an online webinar dedicated to transport accessibility and transport poverty in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

The event was part of a series of expert discussions aimed at strengthening social dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders involved in addressing the social and economic consequences of mobility and automotive industry transformation.

The webinar presented the results of an analysis focusing on transport, mobility, and access to opportunities in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the context of ongoing technological, environmental, and industrial changes. The subsequent discussion brought together representatives of regional government, civil society, and the research community.

The discussion featured Silvie Okálová from the Moravian-Silesian Region, Klára Školníková from the Centre for Transport and Energy, and Jakub Barszcz from the Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI).

The debate focused on how transport accessibility affects access to employment, education, and public services, as well as the risks that transport poverty poses for households and regions undergoing industrial transformation.

Participants discussed how regional authorities, social partners, and other stakeholders can contribute to addressing these challenges through better coordination, planning, and targeted policy measures.

One of the key conclusions was that transport poverty requires greater attention from both policymakers and social partners. Better integration of transport policy, regional development, and labour market policies can help ensure that the mobility transition does not contribute to new forms of social exclusion.
