DEEPLAB: Implications of deep decarbonization of the high emission industries on labour market and employees
CELSI researcher Jakub Barszcz presented on the decarbonization of Slovak high-emission industries in Groningen, the Netherlands
March 28, 2025
Jakub Barszcz introduced one of CELSI’s newest research projects, DEEPLAB, which focuses on the implications of deep decarbonization of high-emission industries for employees and the labor market.
The project aims to widen the knowledge distinguishing the future demand for different qualification levels of employees in hard-to-abate and emerging sectors tackled by decarbonisation, thus offering detail view on the future labour market developments in the Slovak industry under different pathways of deep decarbonisation.
The aim of the workshop was to bring together scientists and practitioners in the field of input-output research and to provide a platform for sharing experiences and research methods in input-output analysis.
“It was a great opportunity to present our project and research process, gain feedback from experts from all over Europe, and gain valuable experience in input-output analysis,” said Jakub.
The workshop was jointly organized by Anke Mönnig (GWS – Institute of Economic Structures Research), Prof. Dr. Tobias Kronenberg (Hochschule Bochum/ Bochum University of Applied Sciences), Susanna Bolz, Dr. Philip Kerner (University of Bremen), and Prof. Dr. Erik Dietzenbacher (University of Groningen).
