The project aims to compare the development of trade unions in societies that have undergone a transition from a planned economy to a market economy. While the process of transition has hardly been uniform across the selected countries, project's focus on trade union development as a ‘comparative variable’ allows individual authors to ground their contributions in an industrial relations framework. The final contributions will reflect the varying degrees of political and economic transition as well as chart how trade unions have reacted to the changes in their respective country.
The outcome is scheduled to appear as an edited book in first half of 2016.
Participating authors cover countries:
- China and Vietnam
- Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan
- Poland, Hungary and Slovakia
