Igor Guardiancich is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Welfare State Research at the Department of Political Science of the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). His research interests include European social policy, welfare states in Central and Eastern Europe, political economy of transition and integration. He has published in various international peer-reviewed journals, such as West European Politics, East European Politics & Societies and International Social Security Review. His book Pension Reforms in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe: From Post-Socialist Transition to the Global Financial Crisis was published in 2012 by Routledge.

Guardiancich earned his PhD in Social and Political Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence. Before coming to the SDU he was a post-doc at the Collegio Carlo Alberto in Turin, at the University of Michigan and at the Central European University – Institute for Advanced Studies. His working experience includes periods spent at the European Commission, the European Trade Union Institute, and the Max Weber Programme. He has conducted researched for the Observatoire social européen, the Belgian federal government, the European Commission – DG Employment, the International Labour Organization, Erste Stiftung, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and various research networks, such as Recwowe.
